Autumn days in Faistenau

The Farmer´s Autumn Harvest in Salzburg from end August to end October

Do you know the village of Faistenau?

When the summer draws to an end and the leaves begin to change colour, a special time begins – the farmer´s autumn harvest. Since the beginning of this successful event in SalzburgerLand, Faistenau lives this special time of the year with pleasure and dedication. Traditional costumes and handcrafts play a large role. The people of the region are proud to wear their Dirndl dresses and Lederhosen at the many autumn festival events. The highlight is certainly the Farmer´s Autumn Harvest Festival under the linden tree in Faistenau.Fresh farmhouse doughnuts and regional specialities such as the Faistenauer Schnittkäse cheese of the Klaushofer family can be savoured and of course actively take part in the festivities. Also an interesting feature on the Grögneralm is the making of the headdresses for the cattle before they return from the summer pasture to the village, or the annual Trakei Treff - a meeting of oldtimer tractors. Do you know what “Fußhakeln” is? We´ll explain that personally when we meet.
