In the solar crafting course for children and teenagers, we will build a water-worthy boat from recycling materials such as a fish can, cardboard, and straws, powered by a photovoltaic cell and a solar motor with a propeller. The high-performance solar cell generates electricity from light based on the photovoltaic principle and can drive the boat even in overcast skies. Here, children learn how to create SOMETHING from NOTHING (disposable waste and free solar energy), specifically something useful. When the sun shines or in good light, the finished solar boats will make their rounds in the splash pool or fountain, solely propelled by the power of the sun. Children craft a toy for themselves and recognize the free energy from sunlight, taking their boat home. The Super Solar Boat has a solar cell that is about three times larger and moves significantly faster.

One or two fish cans, approximately 15 cm long and 8 cm wide, oval and empty,
For the Super Solar Course: fish cans with dimensions of 21 cm x 8 cm (fried herring fillets)
Please do not dent the edge, as it will be needed during crafting
A container for transporting the boat (shoe box, box,...)
Strong scissors, large protractor, pencil, a snack for the break
Hot glue guns, cardboard, and other materials will be provided by the instructor.
