Traces in the snow

Outside the evenings begin to draw in, the temperatures fall, the first snow arrives and winter is on it´s way. For many the worse time of the year, just the thought of having to don a thick coat evertime one goes out.

However winter also has a lovely side, when the sun shines, the new snow glistens and the cross-country trail is tracked for the first time.  Now is the time to put away your running shoes and wax your skis for the trail.

Faistenau is the place to be with a 50 km network of cross-country trails amd it is an ideal resort to bring along friends who wish to go winter walking too.  Here you can enjoy the peace of a beautiful landscape or follow the traces of the animals in the snow.

Later fall in to the snack bar where you can try your hand at ice stick curling.  For office workers a little sport in the evening is important but what does one do when it is dark at 5 p.m?  As an alternative to the fitness studio, the cross-country trails are floodlit every day until 9 p.m.  The atmosphere is unique, the biting cold is uncanny, but this is an experience you should not miss.

You see, winter is not so bad after all.
