Autumn returns to the Fuschlsee Region

When the golden late summer days come into the country, it's Bauernherbst time again. Under the motto “Music”, we are embarking on a sound journey through the fall to celebrate our 30th anniversary.

Taste, try, marvel - the Bauernherbst offers variety for every taste.

In rural culture, work and celebration have always been closely interwoven. And where there is a lot of work to be done - like at harvest time in autumn - there are also numerous occasions for celebration. Visitors and locals can find out just how delicious Salzburg's Bauernherbst tastes in the Bauernherbst villagein  Faistenau at numerous events such as Almabtriebs festivals, harvest festivals and craft demonstrations.

At the Farmers' Autumn Festival (Bauernherbstfest), people come together to enjoy traditional music, regional delicacies, and a festive atmosphere.

On 6 September 2026, the entire village of Faistenau, together with locals and visitors alike, celebrates its famous Farmers' Autumn Festival, renowned far beyond the village borders. The village square, dominated by its magnificent 1,000-year-old lime tree, is beautifully decorated and provides a stunning backdrop for the festivities.

Together with local clubs, farmers, restaurants, and many dedicated volunteers, visitors can enjoy a colourful programme featuring traditional folk music, dancing, and live craft demonstrations. The Fusshackel competition, a traditional strength contest, reveals who has the strongest muscles. Those looking for a more leisurely experience can enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides, while younger guests will have plenty of fun with the children's entertainment programme. Visitors can also take a stroll through the village accompanied by specially brought-in alpacas.

A wide selection of regional food and drinks is provided by the local farming community, restaurants, and village associations. From crispy traditional Krapfen pastries to hearty Farmer's Burgers, there is something to satisfy every taste.
