Bird species recorded by John Parker (amateur ornithologist) in Hof near Salzburg
Personal words of the author: Since my youth, I have been an enthusiastic amateur ornithologist and have lived in Hof for 37 years, during which I have particularly observed the birdlife in and around Hof. Over these years, 136 different species have been recorded. Among these, 63 species are confirmed breeding birds, and there are an additional 28 species that are probable breeders where confirmation is still lacking. The remaining species are winter visitors or migrants. This is already 15 species more than in 1990, when the Hof Chronicle was published. This wide spectrum of bird species arises from the fact that there are many different habitats in Hof: forests, mountains, the lake, the moor, and the settlements. The magpie, for example, is such a bird, of which no breeding has yet been recorded in Hof. Although a commonly occurring bird in the lowlands, the magpie has only been consistently observed in Hof since 1993.Please get in touch for more information.
