The Loser in Altaussee is one of the most attractive excursion destinations in the Salzkammergut region. The drive along the nine-kilometer toll road is impressive and ends at the mountain restaurant Loseralm, where there is also a free parking lot.

Since the summer season 2025:
The toll road is accessible when the panoramic lift is not in operation. More information at www.loser.at/panoramabahninfo

The mostly fog-free Loser is one of the most attractive excursion destinations in the Ausseerland Salzkammergut, offering breathtaking views of the Ausseerland and the nearby Upper Austria.
After nine kilometers of panoramic road, the parking lot at an altitude of 1,600 meters is reached, serving as the starting point for numerous hikes on the Loser and into the heart of the Totes Gebirge.

About the Loseralm, the experience mountain Loser opens up for excursionists and hikers. From the Loser Plateau, numerous walking paths, hiking routes, and mountain tours in various levels of difficulty lead to some of the most significant peaks and beautiful viewpoints in the Salzkammergut.

With the Panoramabahn, you can comfortably reach the mountain station right next to the Loseralm.

TIP: Erzherzog Johann Round Trail around the Augstsee - easily accessible from the Loseralm!

Loser Panorama Ferrata "Sophie" on the Diml wall at the Loser Plateau is an attractive offer also for adult via ferrata beginners and serves excellently as via ferrata training for all age groups.

Panorama Ferrata "Sisi"
The interesting trail is named after the Empress because she is said to have climbed the Loser under her own power. The designation "Panorama Ferrata" is well deserved: the view over the Styrian Salzkammergut and to the Dachstein is sensational.
