Winter swimming on Lake Fuschl - immerse yourself in the power of the cold

A dip in the cold water, clear winter air, goosebumps and a pleasant tingling sensation that runs through your whole body - winter swimming is more than just a test of courage. It is a conscious arrival in the moment, a ritual of mindfulness and pure vitality. Diving into the cold water stimulates circulation and metabolism, strengthens the immune system and releases endorphins - a natural energy boost against the winter blues.
In the Fuschlsee region, you can get to know this extraordinary experience during a guided winter swim in the Fuschlseebad Fuschl am See. Under the guidance of Doris Voithofer, experienced winter bathing guide and waterwoman, participants learn simple breathing techniques and receive valuable tips on how to safely immerse themselves in the cold water. After the short, intensive bath, a cup of tea provides comforting warmth from the inside before a hot shower slowly brings the body back up to temperature - the ideal way to end an invigorating experience in the icy-clear Fuschlsee.
The first dates will be on December 5 and 19, 2025, and from January 9, 2026, winter bathing will be offered weekly on Fridays at 9:30 am until the end of March. Afterwards, a visit to the Fuschlseebad restaurant is the perfect way to warm up with a cup of coffee, hot chocolate or a leisurely breakfast and get the day off to a great start.
Those who prefer to experience winter swimming on their own will also find numerous idyllic places in the Fuschlsee region to enjoy the invigorating effect of the cold water in the midst of the wintry landscape. The Hofer natural bathing beach with its long wooden jetty and the Hintersee, surrounded by tranquil forests and snow-covered mountains, are particularly popular.
