Vita Salubritas
Immediately before the happiness place, the Nockstein, lies the first sculpture. From there, one can already glimpse the second one near the summit, through which the view of the city of Salzburg is offered.
Description of the sculpture at the saddle:
Symbol transition Gaisberg - Nockstein. The sculpture welcomes hikers as they step out of the forest onto the plateau below the summit.
Looking from the east, from Koppl towards the Nockstein, the hiker is greeted with a rather mild, gentle sight. Nestled in the foothills of the Gaisberg, it appears like a gentle, wooded hill. Its appearance is quite different from the northwest: Coming from Fuschl to Salzburg, one does not reach the city before the so-called guardian appears on the left side. Striking, abruptly rising, robust and powerful, the rocky view can be experienced from this side. In the upper part, it is only accessible from the east (Life) and drops vertically in a truly breathtaking rock wall (Death) in the northwest. Thus, it stands there between the magnificent Salzkammergut and the Mozart city of Salzburg.
Upper sculpture:
Image of the whole tri-part human being with body, spirit and its mediator, the soul.
The sculptures were made by Mr. Georg F. Walter and are the thesis for the conclusion of his sculpture studies.
With spirit, soul, and hand, I wish to give something back to nature, to the Nockstein as guardian of Salzburg, with the hope that the sculptures may emanate a healing, life-affirming force (Vita Salubritas)!"
