Overnight stay taxes in the Fuschlseeregion
===========================================

In Salzburger Land there is a tourism tax to pay per person and night. The charges per night and guest consist of the general overnight stay tax and the mobility contribution.

General Overnight Stay Tax
--------------------------

Based on the Salzburg Overnight Stay Tax Act, every night spent in guest accommodations in the state of Salzburg is subject to a per-person tax for guests aged 15 and over (formerly known as the local tax).

- In all towns of the Fuschlsee region—Ebenau, Faistenau, Fuschl am See, Hintersee, Hof bei Salzburg & Koppl—the general overnight stay tax has been €2.45 since December 1, 2023.
- From June 3, 2025, the new rate will be €3.00.

**Exemptions from the tax:**

- Children under 15 years of age.
- Workers performing their profession within the municipality for stays longer than two weeks (short, temporary trips home do not count as an interruption).
- Persons with disabilities of at least 50% and one accompanying person.

For more details, see §4 SNAG.

The tax must be listed separately in offers and invoices.

Mobility Contribution – from May 1, 2025
----------------------------------------

A new uniform ticket is introduced for all overnight guests in the state of Salzburg, covering all public transport during their stay, including city transport, regional buses, S-Bahn, regional and long-distance trains, and micro-public transport.

This ticket is issued by the accommodation provider and is charged as an additional €0.50 per person per night during the introductory period from May 1, 2025, to April 30, 2027.

**Key points:**

- Includes all public transport (e.g. bus line 150 to Bad Ischl or to Salzburg city).
- Worth it if you take even one trip to Bad Ischl (€7.80 one-way) or Salzburg city (€6.60 one-way)!
- Issued via guest registration by the host.
- Delivered as a QR-code (digital or printed).
- Valid from the day of arrival to the day of departure (within the state boundary).

- Cooperation projects with Salzkammergut and SalzburgerLand Tourism.
- Regional marketing (online, print, media, TV, podcasts).
- Online data maintenance (website, Google, social media).
- Reservation and registration systems (e.g. Feratel).
- Production of informational materials and maps (guest guides, hiking and biking maps).
- Staff for the tourism association (guest and host information, administration, travel agency, marketing, local support).
- Support for clubs and tradition (harvest festival, costume associations, mountain summer, “Perchten”).
- Festivals and concerts (food markets, lake music events, summer and town concerts, Advent in Rauchhaus…).
- Insurance for hiking trails (over 1000 km of paths, trails, ski routes, parking facilities).
