Autumn returns to the Fuschlsee Region
Taste, try, marvel - the Bauernherbst offers variety for every taste.
In rural culture, work and celebration have always been closely interwoven. And where there is a lot of work to be done - like at harvest time in autumn - there are also numerous occasions for celebration. Visitors and locals can find out just how delicious Salzburg's Bauernherbst tastes in the Bauernherbst towns of Hof bei Salzburg and Faistenau at numerous events such as Almabtriebs festivals, harvest festivals and craft demonstrations.
Throughout the summer until the end of September, guided tours of the museum take place in the 500-year-old Rauchhaus Mühlgrub. You can immerse yourself in a life without electricity and running water. A special experience are the Hof yodelling afternoons, where you can learn the art of yodelling.
In Faistenau, the Hatzenalm invites you to tie an alpine wreath, and hikers and musicians come together at the musical and culinary Almroas around the Faistenau Schafberg. The popular tractor meeting in Faistenau is also part of the annual fixed programme.
Traditionally, locals and guests celebrate the "fifth season" in SalzburgerLand with folk music and dancing at the big Bauernherbst festivals on 29.08.2021 in Hof near Salzburg and on 05.09.2021 in Faistenau.
At the Bauernherbst festival, people sit together, make music, taste and celebrate. A festival for the whole family, with entertaining programme items from the beer tapping to the Farmers' Olympics, at this festival Hof bei Salzburg presents itself from its best side. Musical entertainment is provided by the Trachtenmusikkapelle and the Heimatverein with its traditional dance and Schuhplattler performances. The Hof associations will provide culinary highlights and there will be plenty of handicrafts to admire and buy from various exhibitors. A large children's programme and a tombola with beautiful prizes are also part of this farmers' autumn.
In Faistenau, the whole village celebrates with its guests and locals the Bauernherbst festival, which is known far beyond the village borders. The village square with its 1000-year-old lime tree is decked out and provides a perfect backdrop. Together with the local associations, the farming community, the catering trade and many other helpers, visitors are offered a colourful programme of music, dance and craft demonstrations: the foot chopping competition or the train cutting show who has the most muscles. The horse-drawn carriage rides are more leisurely, and those who want to can try out their singing talents at the top of the hour. The farmers' wives and the innkeepers on the square provide for your physical well-being. From crispy doughnuts to Alpenburger, there is something for everyone.
