In 1977, an old Salzkammergut Holzknechtstube, the "Dürrenholzstube", was demolished in Weißenbachtal. This was then repositioned by the hometown club in the local Müllnerwäldchen in Goisern. Then furnished with old equipment and tools and designed to a Holzknecht Museum. It is a building made of round timber in which the workers had their bedstead, the so-called "ridge", and where visitors are shown how the woodcutter used to live in the small hut away from their families during the working week. At the large open oven, everyone cooked their own woodcutter cakes, bread crumbs and other hefty lard. From pictures and other objects the visitor gains an overview of the heavy and dangerous work of the woodcutters.
The Holzknecht Museum Bad Goisern also organizes events such as the Goiserer Gamsjagatage. On these feast days they offer also the famous Holzknechtnocken that are prepared with much love by the ladies of the tradtional "Goldhauben" community . Then it smokes again as it did then, in the arduous time, from the time-honored "Rauchkuchel" in the Holzknechtmuseum in Bad Goisern.
